While actually being in Paris right now sounds like a dream (I'm grateful to have visited in the past), dressing up in this Parisian inspired frock really elicits that romantic city feeling.
Though the weather has been drastically cooler in Southern California this past week or so, this was still a very comfortable wear. A coat wasn't necessary on this day, but a great piece to compliment this outfit would be a soft ivory cardigan or cream colored swing coat. This dress is perfect for a day of strolling, and could easily be styled up for a night out.
I took my usual size 4 in this 1940's styled dress, though I have gone up to a size 6 in the past, depending on the fabric. Since this is stretch rayon, there is a bit of room allowance, and the fabric itself feels incredibly luxurious in person.
Now let's move on to what's underneath... because that's just as important.
I am wearing the Secrets in Lace Speakeasy collection in pink, which includes the plunge bra, garter belt and hi-panty. I adore how SIL's line of plunge bras can be worn peeking through the top of a garment for a very elegantly sexy look. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite looks with lower-cut dresses and tops. Plus, these bras give a nice lift and shape, and who can argue with that?
Naturally, attached to every set of pretty Secrets in Lace garter belts are their exquisite 100% nylons; you can find a beautiful variety on their website. A full-fashioned French heel nylon was an obvious choice for this outfit... not to mention, I've always been quite the sucker for back-seams.
For my accessories, I opted for my true vintage; sheer white gloves, beaded clip-back earrings and white magnolia hair flowers. Though my heels were actually purchased from Target a few years back!
Most days I can't decide if I want to wear my hair up or down, so quite often it will go both ways, which is exactly what you see in this blog post. I usually keep my hair styled naturally like these photos show; it's very thick and curly, which makes it a pain to do daily intricate looks. Nothing a few hair accessories can't fix!
For my make-up, I also kept it much more subdued for this look. Instead of contouring, I went with a light touch of peach blush by The Balm instead. I used a very minimal amount of light eyeshadow with a classically small winged liner. I opted for a coral colored lip to change it up from my classic go-to red. For a night out, I'd definitely switch out with a beautiful blue-based red lipstick, though for daytime, I loved my Ciate glitter flip in Coral. The bit of glitter with in it adds a subtle showgirl inspired touch (reminiscent of my burlesque days), which I felt was a perfect touch for this look.
And that's a wrap for this weeks post! Thank you all for your feedback regarding my blog, it's great to see it may help with styling or even to know it just inspires others in general.
