The Twilight Dress

I'm delighted to be featuring one of my favorite brands again for this weeks blog, Stop Staring! Clothing . This dress is much different from the fun florals and bright colors I've blogged about in the past, which I'm loving, because it has me feelin' a certain way... let's say, vampy vixen, would you agree?  This dress, suitably named the " Twilight Dress ", is the perfect little black dress.  It also does everything for your figure a wiggle dress should... if you have curves, it'll flaunt them, and even if you don't, it certainly helps create them with the adjustable little cinch belt and sweetheart bust line. I am wearing a size small, and the fit is true to size.  The fabric is a high-quality stretch bengaline, so there is a bit of wiggle room if you like a snug fit like I do.  My favorite feature is the ultra feminine illusion blouse in sheer dot.  So elegant and timeless! For this look, I opted for ...

Keeping Vintage Fashion Alive

I'm very excited to be sharing this blog with you guys today!  This is my first time working with the popular retro-inspired company  Unique Vintage,  and their beautiful clothing most certainly holds up to their name.  Unique Vintage delivers everything their title suggests; there’s a great variety of sought-out vintage repro clothing to be found, and they even carry many alternative and modern pieces as well.  The dress I am featuring today comes directly from the Unique Vintage house brand.  This is the stunning Valencia Swing Dress  in white and turquoise.  This dress is pretty on the website, but even more eye-catching in person.  The colors are rich and vibrant- what you see is what you get!   The gathered bust tapers down to a wide-banded waist, which really emphasizes an hour-glass shape.  For bigger chested gals, I can vouch that the top feels secure and not at all flimsy; additionally, the shirring in b...

Pretty in Paris

...the Midnight in Par is dress  by Trashy Diva, that is. While actually being in Paris right now sounds like a dream (I'm grateful to have visited in the past), dressing up in this Parisian inspired frock really elicits that romantic city feeling. Though the weather has been drastically cooler in Southern California this past week or so, this was still a very comfortable wear.  A coat wasn't necessary on this day, but a great piece to compliment this outfit would be a soft ivory cardigan or cream colored swing coat.  This dress is perfect for a day of strolling, and could easily be styled up for a night out.  I took my usual size 4 in this 1940's styled dress, though I have gone up to a size 6 in the past, depending on the fabric. Since this is stretch rayon, there is a bit of room allowance, and the fabric itself feels incredibly luxurious in person.   Now let's move on to what's underneath... because that's just as impor...

Wanderlust

I wholeheartedly believe that life is meant for great adventure. Which is why traveling is my passion; I left home on O'ahu just to be able to travel more frequently by living on the mainland. Second best thing to exploring the globe are "staycations". I love discovering the many beautiful settings Southern California has to offer - a days journey can take you from the beach, to the snowy mountains.  Sometimes, you'll find a place that feels like you've stepped into another country; maybe even another era.  This occasion felt like both - and was exactly what I envisioned with this darling  Stop Staring  dress.  This is  the  dress that makes you feel girly yet glamorous... even if all you intend to do for the day is head to the grocery store.  I'll be honest - white is usually a color I steer clear from... though after spending the day frolicking around in this beauty, I get it now.  The same way we ladies need to own that "little...

Ready for Spring

Though it's only February, it's already feeling like spring here in sunny, southern California.  That definitely isn't a complaint either; being from Hawai'i and living in Seattle for 8 years, I've longed for the warmer seasons and am definitely catching up on all that missed sunshine! One of my favorite things about living in California is being able to wear pretty dresses year-round.  Which is really handy, as about 89% of my wardrobe are hoarded dresses due to many years of vintage (and vintage inspired) collecting, collaborating with companies and just being a dress lover in general.  That said, one of my most collected brands that I'll be featuring today is  Trashy Diva. I discovered Trashy Diva a few years back, when a beautifully constructed mid-century/atomic themed set of theirs caught my eye; I couldn't believe it was a reproduction! Since then, for many reasons, they've been a favorite. Not only do their 1940's-50's i...
