Gal with the blue dress on

After a hectic couple of weeks, I'm happy to be back to hopefully what will be more regular blog posting. Thank you all for your feedback on my posts, and especially for your support!

Though the season is spring, it seems globally that the weather isn't quite matching up - after a few warm months in southern California, it has definitely cooled down a bit; rain (much needed here) and some strong winds.  All in all, I don't mind, so long as the sun is shining and I can still dress up!

For this afternoon stroll, I wore two of my very favorite brands - Stop Staring and Secrets in Lace. These companies are each owned by people I greatly admire; who are kind, respectful and passionate about their brand.  I have shot professionally for both, and not only do they each make high-quality, beautiful garments, but it's always a very pleasant experience working with them. For these reasons, you will definitely see a lot of their clothing and lingerie showcased in my posts.

I'll start with this gorgeous houndstooth dress by Stop Staring. The "Karla fitted dress" not only hugs your body like a glove, it's incredibly comfortable as well. Unlike some true vintage fabric, this stretch double knit doesn't leave your skin with that all day itchy, irritated sensation. Therefore, you can still rock that classic vintage look without the discomfort attached.

This dress features a downward, curving bodice, which enhances the bust and really accentuates an hourglass shape.  No matter what shape or size though, this dress is a must have in every retro lovin' gals wardrobe.  Not to mention, who doesn't want to look stylish all day long but actually feel like you're wearing pajamas?

Now let's get to my matching blue nylons, provided by Secrets in Lace - I am wearing the Premier Spanish Heel Nylons in blue.  I am loving their full range of color options to pair with outfits - it gives a whole different approach to a look and really showcases your legs in an elegant, sexy way. Nylons in general leave that mystery of "what's underneath?" by it's beholder, no matter the color... though there's no denying the fun in mixing it up day-to-day.  I didn't capture the full set of lingerie under my outfit (you can see plenty of that over on my Facebook page and instagram), though I am wearing the Speakeasy set by SIL in lilac, as shown here.

As you may know by now, I love to accessorize, especially when it's bringing together modern and vintage pieces that I've collected over the years. For this look, all of my accessories are vintage other than my sunglasses, which I found in a local boutique a couple of years back.

That sums it up for this weeks fashion blog.  Please let me know if there's a certain look you'd like to see in the next post!  I may even be showcasing more modern and alternative looks, so be sure to subscribe to keep up to date!

Thanks, as always, for your support.

Keeping it Classic

Happy February!  This month marks one year since I began this blog! Also... how on earth did January fly by so quickly?!  With this being my first post of the year, I would like to set a different tone from my usual retro/ pin-up/ vintage looks.  I definitely don't stick to one strict style or play by any fashion rules [these days... yes, I was once a "vintage only" all-around rockabilly gal... and even a devoted punk rock teen].  Now, I just love a good mix of modern and classic pieces, sometimes with edgy elements thrown in, and I want to showcase more of that here.  NOTE: That doesn't mean I won't still stay true to the typically vintage-inspired posts too.  There will still be many of those! So let's get right into it... my top is by the UK brand  Lady K Loves .  They have really cute pieces that are great for building up a vintage-inspired wardrobe, or even incorporating into classy everyday looks.  This top i...

Keeping Vintage Fashion Alive

I'm very excited to be sharing this blog with you guys today!  This is my first time working with the popular retro-inspired company  Unique Vintage,  and their beautiful clothing most certainly holds up to their name.  Unique Vintage delivers everything their title suggests; there’s a great variety of sought-out vintage repro clothing to be found, and they even carry many alternative and modern pieces as well.  The dress I am featuring today comes directly from the Unique Vintage house brand.  This is the stunning Valencia Swing Dress  in white and turquoise.  This dress is pretty on the website, but even more eye-catching in person.  The colors are rich and vibrant- what you see is what you get!   The gathered bust tapers down to a wide-banded waist, which really emphasizes an hour-glass shape.  For bigger chested gals, I can vouch that the top feels secure and not at all flimsy; additionally, the shirring in b...

For Sweethearts

Hello, loves!  After much contemplation (procrastination?), I finally have a picture filled blog post, as promised!  If you follow me on Instagram , you'll know that I frequently do style/O.O.T.D. posts, however, I only showcase a couple of photos from a complete set.  Therefore, the purpose of this blog will be to provide much more content, as well as keep up with requested inquiries on look specifics and give more detailed feedback on each look.  It's been a long time coming and I'm excited to begin this project with you guys!  Since we are honing in on Valentine's Day, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to kick off with a themed post  - what better than a baby pink dress paired with complimentary ivory lingerie?  Whether you will be celebrating Valentine's Day with a loved one, friends or family, or by treating yourself (which I highly encourage), it cannot be denied that this is a perfect opportunity to dress up! ...
