Happy Halloween! I know it's been a while since my last update, so I wanted to make sure to post just in time for the holiday.
While I don't have a costume this year (I know...), you can probably tell by now that my wardrobe tends to be inspired by the change of each season. For today's blog post, I wanted to capture one of my favorite styles; a classic, dark noir look. The vintage dress I'm wearing is one of the most treasured pieces that I own, as it belonged to my lovely Great-Grandma Thelma Louise.
Though I appreciate each season (we didn't really have them in Hawai'i), I'd have to say that autumn is one of my favorites. Obviously, fall in California is different to a lot of other states, in that the change is gradual and it's still pretty warm this time of year. Though there's one noticeable difference, and that's literally the feeling in the air; the breeze suddenly feels more crisp and cool. It's the perfect time to be able to start wearing cardigans and jackets again, but still warm enough to wear dresses and skirts without being too cold out; my favorite!
The vintage suede gloves I paired here belonged to my Grandma June, and are a perfect match with the suede bust of the dress. My 60's drop earrings were my Aunt Shirley's, and my spring-o-later mules were a recent gift from my Mama. Therefore, all of these pieces have a strong meaning to me!
As always, no elegant look is complete without proper vintage-inspired nylons and garters. The nylons I'm wearing here are the Secrets in Lace Classic RHT in the color "Espresso", which I had the pleasure of modeling in a recent photoshoot; to view/purchase, click here!
I adore the unique color of these particular nylons; they really bring that extra element to the outfit and are the perfect hue for any autumn/winter time look.
For my hair and make-up detail, I like to play around with seasonal looks as well. This is the time I like to switch out my classic red lipsticks for more orange-based undertones and even deeper burgundy shades, like the one pictured. The color I am wearing is Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick in "Motorhead". I kept my eyeshadow minimal to keep the focal point at the lips, but kept my usual winged eyeliner and full volume lashes.
That concludes todays post! Thank you so much for reading. If you haven't already, please subscribe to stay up to date and as always, comments/feedback below is appreciated.
Hope you all have a wonderfully spooky Halloween!
Xo,
Vivi
